CRIME NEWS: Ballantyne Neighborhoods

A copy of another email Chris sent, this one on January 9, 2008.

"IN THE CHARLOTTE OBSERVER:

Ballantyne-area neighborhoods on alert

Residents of at least four Ballantyne-area neighborhoods are on alert after a string of home invasions this month. Police say three suspects have broken into five houses since Jan. 2, stealing thousands of dollars worth of valuables. The men pull up to the homes in a burgundy SUV, knock, and if no one answers, kick the door in, police said. They dash inside and spend about 10 minutes grabbing items such as laptops, DVDs and Nintendo Wiis.

If you see anything suspicious in your neighborhood, call 911."

CRIME NEWS: Neighborhood Incident, 1/6/08

Chris Evans emailed the following to everyone on 1/8. Just posting it here for the sake of completeness.

"Residents of Kellers Glen:

Around 8 pm Sunday night 1/6, a gunshot was fired into a home on Elfreda Rd. No one was injured, although the residents were home and heard the window break.

To my understanding, the bullet went through the lower level window and came to rest on the floor after hitting a table. The police were called to the scene and, based on the resting place of the bullet, determined that the velocity was low at impact, inferring that the bullet was fired from some distance away (rather than someone standing outside the window/in the road). Of course, no one can accurately determine the bullet’s origin.

While everyone believes the incident to be isolated, please remain vigilant to any suspicious activity in the neighborhood, and as always call 911 if you notice anyone/anything out of the ordinary. Feel free to contact me with any questions/concerns."
